~Every leaf speaks bliss to me, fluttering from the Autumn tree.~

And just like that, it is Fall…It just kinda seemed to swoop right in, and land it’s pretty little self right smack dab in the middle of Seattle. In one quick day, the winds changed, the light shifted, and suddenly, I found myself layering that extra quilt on the bed, closing my windows, and grabbing a scarf before heading out the door. And since it’s a new season, I decided to get a new look for Sun-soaked laundry! A new and improved, easy navigation, modern look for my sweetie-pie site, which boasts two whole followers, (hi Mom and Dad!). I so hope you like it… It’s so fancy!

Since summer was so short here in the Pacific Northwest, I decided to get one more summer kick and head to the Washington State Fair with my sweet friend Kerri and her family. This was our second annual trip to the fair, and once we have checked that off our list, we officially throw our hands up, and say, “Okay, Fall, you may now make your entrance.”

~Delicious Autumn! My very soul is wedded to it, and if I were a bird I would fly about the earth seeking the successive Autumns.~

We put our dirtiest boots on, grabbed some coffee, and were OFF…headed out of the city, straight into the country and spent the whole day petting all the animalst we could make our way to: cows, horses, goats, sheep, chickens, pigs…you name it, we pet it. We treated ourselves to the yummiest fair scones that ever were made, rode the most rickety wooden rollercoaster you ever did see, bought some chocolate fudge, and giggled like school girls all through the fair grounds. Sometimes, you’ve just got to let yourself be a kid again.

Fast forward 2 days, the Fall Equinox hits, and suddenly, Fall is everywhere. It is bright outside, but the sunshine has lost it’s ferocity. The wind is lightly howling, not too much, but just enough that I can hear it through my single paned windows.

I woke up today with a chill in my bones that I just could not shake. I kept my scarf on all day, and had to be talked into taking my coat off at work, only because it looks ridiculously frumpy to wait tables in a puffy jacket. In true Seattle fashion, it rained this morning, stayed overcast all day, and all I could discuss with my coworkers was how bad I wanted to go home and make soup! The bartender I was working with told me of an amazing recipe for French lentil soup with bacon, and all the steps on how to make it.  I MUST share it with you, because…you guessed it! I made it tonight. Hey, it’s Fall, that’s about 3 months worth of soup recipes to try out. Check it out…so easy, so delicious, and oh so COZY!

A wee bit of chopping…

A little bit of sauteeing…

A pleasant hour of simmering…

And Voila! Dinner is served…

The best part about making soups and stews is to hear it bubbling away on the stove. It gives you time to relax in your knit socks and oversized sweater, tidy things up, enjoy a glass of wine, unwind from the day, and settle into the season.

Since it’s the season, I’ll leave you with a picture of my little Halloween kitty…

Happy Fall friends! Hope you enjoy the season as much as I will… xoxo
